Banana Flower Vadai / Vazhaipoo Vadai

                                                       Banana Flower Vadai
                                         This vadai I learnt from my Mother-in-law Mrs Sulochana Subbaiah. She is a very good cook. I learnt a lot of tips from her . Let's go to the recipe


Banana Flower        - 1

Thuvar dhal             - 1 cup
Aniseeds                 - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds           - 1 tsp
Red chilli[dry chilli] -2
onion                      1/4 cup chopped
Coconut                - 1/4 cup [optional]
salt



               Soak thuvar dhal for 2-3 hours. Then grind it with red chilli, coconut, aniseed, cumin, and salt by adding very little water in a consistency of a little coarse. Remove it and keep it aside.

              Now take the banana flower and take the flowers inside by taking the outer skin. Then remove the thick centre stem in each flower. You can see it when you split each flower. When all the stems are removed from the flowers grind the flowers coarsely using the pulsing button in the mixer.[Pulsing means running the mixer for a few seconds and off, like do all till it is ground coarsely.].Then put it in water and wash it once or twice nicely as this step takes off the bitterness. Then with the help of the strainer drain the water and squeeze the water out.

                Then mix the prepared/squeezed coarsely ground banana flower with the ground dough of thuvar dhal, add chopped onion,curryleaves and pat it, and make vadai and fry in oil till golden brown. and crisp.
