                                   Masala Paniyaram

                 Call it masala paniyaram or seeyam , what we call in chettinad cuisine  is simply delicious and very easy to make . It is like medhu vada where we make vada with only urad  whereas this masala paniyaram we make it with mix of raw rice and urad. We make it mostly on festive days like diwali etc . It is one of my favorite dish/snack.....mmmm
                    Shall we go to the recipe ...now....
Soak the following ingredients for 3-4 hours
Raw rice                      -------1/2 cup
Urad dhal                    ------- 1.2 cup

                    Soak the rice and urad together for  3-4 hours .Then grind it in the grinder without adding too much water. The dough should be smooth and of a consistency of  vada ...fluffy and not too thick or thin.. you can use mixie  for grinding too...
Tip 
If you want to test the consistency , take a small bowl of water and drop little lump of the dough and it should float  just like a ball... if it does it is perfect

Seasoning
oil
mustard                   ----------- 1 tsp
urad                        ----------- 1 tsp
onion                      ----------- 1 small [Finely chopped]
green chilli              ----------- 1 tsp chopped
curry leaves           few
coriander finely chopped

Take a pan and heat it.
Add some oil to it and then add the mustard,urad
Then add onion ,green chilli, curry leaves  and saute for few minutes.
Then add this to the ground mixture and the mix . Now the dough is ready for masala paniyaram.
Now heat the oil for frying in Kadai
Now slightly wet your hands and then take some dough and put it in the hot oil and  when it turns golden ,remove it and  delicious masala paniyaram is ready to serve ....
Serve  it with coconut chutney/onion tomato chutney.
