                                           Onion Chutney

                        This chutney is a very simple one and also a tasty one.Best side dish for Idli or Dosa. When i need to pack for a long trip i usually make this with idli which comes in handy as it stays tasty . For this chutney we need only few items and very quick to make.

Ingredients
Onion        - 4-5 medium size
Red chilli   - 4
tamarind    - small gooseberry size
salt            -3/4 tsp
urad dhal   - 2 tbsps

Seasoning
Oil               -1 tbsp
mustard        - 1 tsp
Curry leaves -few
                               First take a pan and heat it . Add a tsp oil to it.
When the oil is hot add the Urad dhal first and let it turn golden .
Then add the red chilli and then onion and saute till the onion becomes translucent.
Now add the salt and tamarind to it and saute for 2-3 minutes .
Then remove from the heat and let it cool.
When it cools down grind it and transfer it to a bowl.
Now time for seasoning. Take the small kadai and heat it . 
Add oil to it. When hot add the mustard.
After the mustard pops up take the kadai off the heat and then add the curry leaves immediately as the oil is hot.
In this way the curry leaves stays green  and looks and tastes good .
Now add the seasoning to the chutney.....There your simple onion chutney is ready.
Serve with Idli, Dosa...
