Rava Idli
Rava idli is close to idli which is made with rava. It doesn't needs to be fermented and can be made quickly.Whenever i don't have the idli dough i make this rava idlis which are soft and tasty.It is very easy to make and shall we proceed to the recipe..
Rava - 1 cup
Ginger - 1 tsp grated
onion -1/2 chopped finely
green chilli -1 finely chopped[optional]
mustard - 1 tsp
channa dhal -1/2 tsp
cashew - few broken
carrot -1 tbsp grated[optional]
peas - 2 tbsp[optional]
curd -1/2 cup
water - 1- 1 &1/2cup
oil - 2 tbsps
salt - as per your taste
curry leaves - few
coriander -1 tsp
ENO [fruit salt] -1 tsp
Now take a kadai. Heat it and add oil to it.
When it is hot add mustard,channa, cashews and let it splutter and the dhal will turn to light golden color.
Now add the chopped onion and saute for a minute and then add chilli and ginger, curry leaves and saute.
With this add the vegetables and rava and keep on stirring to prevent burning.You could smell the rava.
Now take it off the heat and allow it to cool.
Add coriander to it.
Get you idli cooker ready to steam the idlis.
Now add the eno salt and mix it and pour the dough in the mould.
The dough consistency should be light and loose and not thick
As soon as you add the eno place it in the idli plate and steam it.
Close the cooker and steam it for 15-20 minutes.
Now the soft and fluffy rava idlis are ready.
Serve it with sambhar and coconut chutney.
