Vathal Kuzhambu (2)

   This Vathal Kuzhambu we don't have to grind anything and very easy to make . It tastes so good like the one we get from restaurants in india. When i made we loved it so much we emptied it so fast.

Ingredients
onion                - 1/2 chopped
Garlic               -3-4 cloves slit lengthwise
Tomato             - 1 chopped
Sambhar powder - 1 tsp
Chilli powder    - 1/4 tsp( optional)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Vathal               - 1 tbsp ( we can use any like mithukka vathal, sundakkai vathal etc)
salt
Tamarind          - a gooseberry size soaked in water
Mustard             - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
aniseeds(sombu) - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds       - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves  few
oil                       - 2tsp
Gingelly oil        - 1 tbsp( optional...but if we add it it tastes so good and should be added in the end)
Rice flour            - 1 tsp ( for thickening)

Now first mash the tamarind and take the water from the pulp and keep it aside.
Next fry the vathal and keep it aside
Take a pan and heat it. Add oil to it.
When hot add the seasoning, mustard,cumin, fenugreek, sombu, curry leaves.
Then add the onions, garlic and saute for few minutes.
Then add the tomatoes. Saute for few more minutes.
Now add the turmeric, sambhar powder, chilli powder, and salt.
Add the vathal and tamarind water to it and let it boil.
Taste it and then add the rice flour mixed with water. This will thicken the Kuzhambu.
When the raw smell goes off , add the gingelly oil and remove from stove and serve with Hot Rice.
