Okra Pachadi

  Okra Pachadi is very special one too. This one today also came from our garden and organic. Very Tasty too. "From Garden to Table "😋😋😋😋

Okra  has other names as Ladies Fingers is a warm season vegetable.In Tamil we call it Vendaikkai and in Hindi they say Bindi. It is a good source of minerals,vitamins,antioxidants and fiber.

With Okra we can make variety of dishes. Today we are making Okra Pachadior call it Vendaikkai Pachadi

   Ingredients

Okra - 1 bowl (chopped into slices)

onion-1/4 cup chopped

tomato -1 chopped

curry leaves

turmeric-1/4 tsp

curry powder-1/2 tsp(you can substitute with chilli/sambhar powder too)

mustard - 1/4 tsp

urad      - 1/4 tsp

salt to taste

oil - 2tsp

tamarind water - 1/4 cup 

water - as needed

coriander to garnish (optional)


First we need to remove the stickiness of the okra. For this we need to saute it with little oil and salt till it is not sticky on a flame between slow to medium.

For this heat a pan. Add oil to it around 2 tsp. Then saute it till the stickiness goes away.

 Take it in a bowl and keep it ready for the Pachadi.

Everything is ready to make the Pachadi.

Take a Pan and heat it. Add  2 tsp oil.

When it is hot ,add the mustard , urad. 

Then add the onions, curry leaves,salt and saute for 1-2 minutes.

Now add turmeric too and saute.

Add the tomatoes and  stir  for 2-3 minutes. Add the curry powder to it. 

Let the tomatoes cook. After it is cooked add the okra to it and  saute for few minutes.

Add the tamarind water and 1/4 cup of water . Mix it and close the lid allowing to cook for few minutes.

After  few minutes the delicious Okra Pachadi is ready.

Serve Okra Pachadi with Rice
