Banana Flower Poriyal( Vazhaippoo Poriyal)

    Banana Flower - 1 cup ( chopped)

onion - 1/2 cup

turmeric - 1/4 tsp

Sambhar Powder- 1/4 tsp ( depending upon the spice we need we can increase the amount)

Mung dhal - 1/4 cup 

coconut - 1/4 cup

Curry Leaves - few

oil - 2tsp

mustard - 1/4 tsp

urad dhal - 1/4 tsp


Remove the middle stem in each flower and then chop it . 

Heat a pan . Add the chopped banana flower and enough water to cover. Then add the sambhar powder and salt. Cook it till its tender. 

Now drain the water and keep it aside.

Heat a pan . Add oil to it.

When hot add the seasoning of mustard, urad. When it starts to pop, add onions, curryleaves.

Saute it and then add the cooked banana flower to it. Saute it few more minutes.

Then add the perfectly cooked mung dhal to it and mix it. If needed add the salt.

Add the shredded coconut to it. Mix it for 2-3 minutes and then swith off the stove.

Delicious Banana Flower Poriyal is ready.
