Idli Podi with Curry Leaves

This podi recipe is from my Mom . I have seen my Mom, make this recipe very often as we used to have curry leaves from our garden.

When I made it today...wow it reminded me of those childhood days where she would dry the curry leaves in the sun and make it. So yummy.

Lets go to the recipe.

Channa dhal - 1/2 cup

Thuvar Dhal - 1/2 cup

urad dhal - 1/2 cup

Red Chilli - 8-10

salt- 1 tsp

asafoetida - 1/4 tsp

Curry leaves - 1 cup

Heat a pan. Add 1 tsp oil. This is optional.

Roast the channa dhal first to a golder brown keeping the flame in medium and constantly stirring it.

Then remove. Then roast the thuvar dhal to a golden brown and take it.

Do the same with urad dhal.

We can put the roasted dhal in a big bowl/plate to cool .

Then roast the red chilli till it becomes crisp and put it with the dhal.

Roast the asafoetida too

Now slowly roast the curry leaves till it becomes crisp. Keep on stirring it. When you touch the leaves it will crumble and break into pieces.

Then take it and cool everything  and grind it coarsely with salt.

Yummy delicious Idli Podi with Curry Leaves is ready.

Enjoy with Idli/Dosa
