Great Northern Bean Soup in Instant Pot

 Great Northern Beans comes from the group of White Beans are larger than the Navy Beans but smaller than the Cannellini Beans. They have a delicate flavor They are mostly used in Soups.

Great Northern Beans are an excellent source of low fat , plant based protein and has rich amounts of vitamin B , thiamine and folate.

This soup is also easy to make and can be a whole some Lunch or Dinner meal with a slice of bread or topped with Croutons.

Great Northern Beans - 1 1/2 cup ( soak in water for 6-8 hours)

onion - 1/2 cup chopped

garlic - 2 cloves chopped

Tomato - 1 can (14.5 ounces)

Italian Seasoning- 1 tsp

Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp crushed

salt - 1 tsp

carrot - 1 chopped

celery- 1 stalk chopped

water- 3-4 cups

curry powder - 1/2 tsp (optional)

Bay leaf- 1

For this Soup we are using an Instant Pot .

Plug in the Instant Pot. Put it in the Sauté mode.

Add the olive oil. When it is hot add the bay leaf.

Then add the onion and stir it.

Add the garlic, celery, carrot one after another . Keep on stirring it.

Add the beans to it , then add the pepper, Italian Seasoning to it too.

Now add the tomatoes to it , the whole can and add the water too.

If you are adding curry powder , add it now and then salt.

Close it with the lid.

Then cancel the sauté mode and choose the Pressure Mode.

In the Pressure Mode choose the Beans and then temperature to be high

Then the timer to 35 minutes as we are adding the uncooked beans.

(if it is a cooked beans or canned beans 20 minutes is good)

After 35 minutes Soup is ready. 

I like my soup in a smooth texture. So I used the hand mixer and grind it.

Serve this yummy soup with homemade croutons.
