Chole Palak in Instant Pot

Today's recipe is Chole Palak. It is just chole and spinach. It is just Chickpeas cooked with Spinach, Indian spices , onion ,tomato gravy .

Chole , accompanied with Bhature or Poori ,it is always a yummy and favorite dish among adults and kids.

It is very easy to make.

Ingredients
Chickpeas     - 1 cup( around 12 ounce cooked) (We can use uncooked soaked chickpeas too)
Spinach -1 cup
onion - 1 ( chopped)
tomato- 2 ( chopped)
ginger - 1/2 tsp
garlic- 3 cloves
chole masala- 1 tsp ( we can use curry powder)
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Amchur- 1/2 tsp (optional)
coriander powder - 1 tsp
cumin - 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Oil - 3 tsp
coriander chopped finely to garnish ( optional)

First grind the tomato and keep it separately.
Then grind the chopped onions, ginger paste, garlic and keep it aside.
Now plug in the Instant Pot and put it in a Sauté mode. I chose the Beef selection as it gives longer time to sauté and whenever I am done I can cancel it
Add oil to it. When it is slightly hot add the cinnamon.
Then add the onion , ginger garlic paste to it and mix.
Add the turmeric, Curry powder powder and sauté it
After a 1-2 minutes add the tomatoes. Keep on mixing in between to prevent from burning the spice.
Sauté it for few minutes and then add the salt, if needed more curry powder , chopped Spinach to it and mix for few more minutes.
Now add the Chickpeas to it and add 1/4 to 1/2 cup water. Consistency depends on how thin or thick you want. I added 1/2 cup water.
Taste it for salt if needed add little bit. Then close the lid and  cancel the sauté mode.
Put it Pressure Mode Vegetables temperature High 12 minutes
{ As I have used cooked Chick Peas I used the Vegetable mode temperature High 12 minutes. But if you are using uncooked Chickpeas which was soaked overnight put it in Pressure Mode Beans Temperature High 30 minutes}
After the 12 minutes let the pressure release naturally.
Yummy Chole Palak is ready to serve with Roti / Hot rice rice with ghee on top
