Red Chutney is a very simple dish with only very few ingredients and a good side dish for Idli/ Dosa/ KuzhiPaniaram/ Vella Paniaram. We can call it as onion chutney/tomato chutney
Ingredients
Onion - 2 medium size
Tomato - 4 medium
salt to taste
Tamarind - 1 small gooseberry size(small marble size if you don't know what a gooseberry is)
Garlic-2
Red Chilli- 2-3 (depending on how spicy you want)
Seasoning
oil-2 tsp
mustard - 1 tsp
Asafoetida- 1 pinch
curry leaves few
Chop the onions, tomatoes.
Take the onions, tomatoes , salt, tamarind, garlic, Red Chilli in a Mixie/Blender and grind it nicely.
Take a pan. Heat it and add oil.
When the oil is hot add the mustard , asafoetida, curryleaves.
Then add the ground paste/mix. Cover it and cook by mixing in the middle to prevent burning till the raw smell goes off .
After few minutes of cooking when the raw smell goes off , we can see the oil separating and the chutney is ready
Delicious Red Chutney is ready
Serve it with Idli/ Dosa.
