This is a simple easy snack and the spiciness can be altered accordingly. I like it with less spicy.
We need only few ingredients
Rice Flour - 2 cups
Gram flour ( Besan )- 1 cup
salt- 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp ( optional)
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
oil for frying
Sieve both the flour and add the chilli powder, turmeric, cumin salt .
Mix the dry ingredients well.
Then heat 3-4 tbsps oil and add the hot oil to the flour.
Instead of hot oil , we can add 2 tbsp butter , heat it and add to the flour too (add either oil or butter)
Mix it with a spoon. Then add water little at a time and make it into a smooth soft dough.
Keep the Murukku press with the ribbon murukku slit( it has a single thin slit) in it ready and needed plates and ladle ready before heating the oil for frying
Put the dough inside the Murukku press and close. Press it directly into the hot oil.
Take the kadai. Add the oil for frying and heat it in the medium flame
When the oil is hot make the ribbon murukku with the help of the murukku press.
Be careful and keep the press at the height where the dough falls when you press into the oil without splattering the oil at the same time your hands shouldn't touch the oil or hot kadai.
Fry till it is golden brown, crispy on both sides
Fry till the bubbles reduces and to test it when you press it with the ladle it won't be soft. It will be crunchy.
Now yummy delicious Ribbon Pakoda/ Ribbon Murukku is ready
