Rasam

 Today's recipe is Rasam. Follow this one, you won't go wrong and very easy to make. Everyone will LOVE it.

Serves: 4                                                                      Cook & Prep time: 20 minutes

Cuisine- South Indian

Tomato - 1 {cut lengthwise into 4 quarters, so that it can be crushed with hands}

Tamarind - 1 small gooseberry size {soak in 2- 3 cups of water}

Turmeric - 1/4 tsp

salt

coriander to garnish


To grind coarsely

Coriander seeds - 1 tsp

Pepper - 1 tsp

cumin - 1/2 tsp

Red chilli - 1

fenugreek seeds - 1/8 tsp

Garlic - 4-5

mustard - 1/2 tsp

asafoetida- 1 pinch

green chili - 1 slit in lengthwise

Red chili - 1

curry leaves few

oil - 1 tsp


First, take a mixie jar. Add the coriander, cumin, pepper, fenugreek, and Red chili, and crush/grind coarsely.

Now add the garlic and grind coarsely.

Take it and keep it aside.

Take the tamarind water from the soaked tamarind. Strain it and then crush the tomato inside. Add salt

Add 1/4 tsp turmeric and salt

Now heat a Pan. Add oil to it

Add the seasoning, first mustard, Asafoetida, Red chili, green chili, and curry leaves.

Then add the crushed/ ground masala. Saute it

Then add the tamarind water mix.

Add salt if needed. Cover it and keep the flames in the medium. 

Just before it starts to boil, off the stove and add the coriander. {Adding coriander is optional}

Yummy delicious Rasam is ready.

Serve it with hot rice and Appalam or just like that.
