Today we will make a side dish with shredded Cabbage and shredded carrot mixed Poriyal which is quick and easy to make. It goes well with rice/roti
Cabbage - 1 cup {shredded}
Carrot - 1 cup {shredded}
Onion - 1/4 cup
Green Chilli - 2 slit lengthwise
Curry leaves few
mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Coconut - 1/2 cup shredded
oil- 2 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp ( depending on your taste)
Heat a pan. Add oil to it. When it is hot add the seasoning, first mustard, then urad and asafoetida.
When it pops, and the urad is golden, add onion and slit chilli. Saute it for 1-2 minutes.
Then add the shredded carrot and cabbage, curryleaves and saute it with salt.
Keep on stirring to avoid burning, for about 4 -5 minutes.
As the cabbage & carrot are shredded, cooking takes a little time.
Then add the coconut and stir for a minute and then switch off the flame
Cabbage Poriyal is ready. Serve with hot rice and rasam.
