🔥 Scallion Pancake Chilli Parotta – A Quick and Tasty Twist!
I recently came across a pack of frozen Scallion Pancakes and decided to give them a try. To my surprise, they reminded me a lot of the Malaysian-style Parotta—crispy on the outside but slightly chewy inside. While they were tasty on their own, I thought, Why not give them an Indian twist and turn them into Chilli Parotta? And let me tell you—it worked like magic!
This version of Chilli Parotta is super easy to make and packs a punch of flavor. You can throw it together quickly if you have everything prepped. I also tested it with and without Tikka Masala Paste, and both turned out delicious—so it’s totally up to your taste.

🍳 Instructions

Prepare the Pancakes:
Cook the scallion pancakes on both sides in a hot pan as per package instructions. Once cooked, let them cool slightly and then cut into bite-sized cubes. -
Sauté the Aromatics:
In another pan, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn slightly golden. -
Add Garlic & Veggies:
Add garlic and bell peppers (and any optional veggies). Sauté for 1-2 minutes. -
Spice It Up:
Stir in the curry powder, turmeric powder, salt, and tikka masala paste (if using). Mix well to coat the veggies with the spices. -
Add Tomatoes:
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they break down and form a thick masala base. -
Toss in the Pancake Cubes:
Add the scallion pancake pieces to the pan and gently mix until all the pieces are well coated with the masala. -
Final Cook:
Let it cook for 3-4 more minutes, allowing the pancakes to absorb the flavors. -
Serve:
Turn off the heat and serve hot—either on its own or with a side of raita or yogurt.
✨ Pro Tip:
This dish also works well as a fun appetizer or snack for guests. It’s flavorful, filling, and a great way to repurpose store-bought scallion pancakes into something bold and exciting!
