Pongal

                                         Pongal

Pongal is considered a nutritious breakfast and usually served  with sambhar and chutney.It is easy to prepare and if you have a pressure cooker it is fast.

Ingredients
Moong dhal[yellow]     -1/4 cup
Rice                               - 1 cup
Black pepper                 -1 tsp
cumin seeds                   -1 tsp
salt
water                               -5 cups
Seasoning
Onion                              -1 medium chopped(optional)
Green chill                      -1
Bayleaf
curryleaves
black pepper and cumin crushed-1tsp
cashews                          -1 tbsp
Raisins                            -1 tbsp
oil
ghee                                 -2-3 tbsps



First pressure cook the  Moongdhal and rice by adding 5 cups of water, salt, cumin, and black pepper.
When cooked remove it and keep aside. Then take a pan and add oil . When the oil is hot add bay leaf, onion, chili,curryleaves, and cashews and saute for 2 minutes. Then add the cooked rice and dhal to it and add crushed pepper and cumin.Saute for 5 minutes and mix it well. Now add ghee and remove it from the stove
Now Pongal is ready and serve it with Sambhar and coconut/peanut chutney
