Tomato Upma

                               Upma is simple and light dish either as a breakfast/ dinner/snack/with Pesarattu. With this simple upma make little alterations and you can make variety of dishes like Tamarind Upma, Wheat Rava Upma and now this Tomato Upma are just a few. this dish is tangy , spicy like Tomato Rice ....Simple to make...

Ingredients
Rava/Sooji                     - 1 cup
Onion                             - 1/4 cup chopped
Tomato                          - 3 chopped
Cashews                        - few
Green Chilli                  - 1-2 [depending upon how spicy you want]
Curry leaves                 - few
Oil                                - 2 tbsp
mustard                        - 1 tsp
channa dhal                 - 1 tsp
Water                          - 3 cups
salt
Turmeric                    - 1/4 tsp[optional]

          In a pan dry roast the rava for few minutes.Remove it and Keep it aside in a bowl.
          Bring back the pan to the stove and heat it .
          Add oil to it and add the seasoning of Mustard, channa dhal, cashews , curry leaves. Let the cashews become  golden color.
          Then add onions and saute for few minutes.Now add the tomatoes and chilli to it and saute till the tomato gets cooked and blends in well.
          After that add the water and salt . Close it with a lid and allow it to boil.
          When it starts to boil take the rava  and start adding it little at a time and stirring constantly. This is because as we don't want any lumps in our upma.
           When the water is little reduced and it comes together reduce the flame and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. When you touch it with wet hands it won't stick in your hands and the smell of the upma lets you know it is ready to be served.
                 Serve hot with Peanut Chutney, Idli podi and little sugar...MMMM so tasty
