Banana Flower Kootu

 Banana Flower is the flower we get from the Banana Plant . The benefits of Banana Flower is endless. Few of them

Banana flower- 2 cups

split Mung dhal - 1/4 cup

onion- 1/2 chopped

tomato - 1 chopped

sambhar powder - 1/4 tsp (we can use 1/2 tsp too if you need more spicy)

turmeric - 1/8tsp

cumin - 1/2 tsp

urad dhal - 1/4 tsp

curry leaves - few

water - as needed

grind

coconut - 2 tbsp

rice flour - 1 tsp

 I used a pressure cooker on stove top.

Heat the pressure cooker. Add 1-2 tsp oil.

When hot , add the cumin and urad to it. It will start t0 pop, add the onion, curry leaves.

Sauté for 1-2 minutes. Then add the tomato. Sauté it . 

Now add the chopped Banana flower. Mix it and add the turmeric, sambhar powder, salt to it.

After mixing it add the split mung dhal and sauté it for few minutes.

Add the ground coconut and rice flour mixture to it.

Add about little less than 1/4 cup water and mix it.

Now close the cooker and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles. ( i did for 2 whistles)

After the whistle switch off and when the pressure is release transfer it into a serving bowl.

Serve with hot rice, Vengaya Poondu Kuzhambhu.

Yummy delicious healthy kootu is ready.
