Today we are making Poori Masala , a simple and easy recipe. It is a good side dish for Poori/ Dosa .
It can be made with green chillies instead of curry powder too. Very simple and easy to make.
Ingredients
Potatotes - 3-4 medium sized
onion - 1 sliced lengthwise
tomato - 1 chopped
garlic - 2 (sliced lengthwise)
ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
curry powder - 1 tsp
turmeric - 1/4 tsp
salt to taste
curry leaves few
mustard - 1/2 tsp
urad - 1/4 tsp
channa dhal - 1 tbsp ( gives that crunchy taste)
oil - 2tsp
Boil the potatoes. Remove the skin and chop it. Keep it aside.
Heat a pan. Add oil to it. Keep the flame in medium.
When the oil is hot, add the mustard. Then add channa dhal and urad to it and sauté it.
The pulses had to become golden brown . Then add the onions and sauté it for few minutes , add the curry leaves to it too.
Add the ginger, garlic to it. Mix. Sauté.
Then add the turmeric, curry powder ( we can add slit green chilies too or red chilli powder instead of curry powder)
Mix and sauté it. Then add tomatoes to it and fry for 2-3 minutes. Add the salt and fry for few more minutes till the tomatoes get cooked.
Then add the cooked and sliced potatoes to it and mix. If you need to add turmeric or any spice more add it and mix.
Add 1/2 cup of water or as needed and close the lid . Let it boil.
The consistency should be in the middle neither thick nor watery.
Once it boil and mix it. Taste and switch off the stove
Yummy delicious Poori Masala is ready to serve with hot Poori
