Mochai Is called Field Beans in English . We get these beans from Avarakkai which is called Broad Beans in English . It has lot of proteins and when I was searching the health benefits of Mochai/Field beans, I found the following.
Mochai are extremely rich in protein and contain the eight essential amino acids required for a health body. They provide protein without adding many calories and saturated fats that the dairy and meat products generally do. They contain certain essential nutrients which are required for the detoxification process.
Making this masala is easy.
Ingredients
Mochai (fresh)-1 cup
onion- 1/2 cup chopped
tomato - 1/2 cup chopped
ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
garlic - 2-3 chopped
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
curry powder - 1 tsp
oil- 2 tsp
mustard - 1/2 tsp
curry leaves few
Asafoetida- 1 pinch
coriander leaves - for garnishing ( chopped finely)(optional)
Instant Pot
water as needed (approximately 1/4-1/3 cup)
First take the Instant Pot . Plug it in. Put it in the sauté mode
Add oil to it and when it is hot add the mustard, asafoetida.
Then add the chopped onions , curry leaves and saute it.
Add the ginger , garlic and saute it followed by adding the turmeric and salt to it.
Keep on mixing. Now add the tomatoes and stir it. Add the curry powder to it and mix well.
Add little water to it so that the masala doesn't get burnt and the tomatoes get cooked .
Stir it for 2 more minutes and then add the Mochai (field Beans)
Check for the taste and if needed add more masala/ salt.
Add water as needed around 14 minutes
Now close the lid and cancel the saute mode.
Set the Pressure mode , Vegetable section, pressure high and increase the temperature to 14 minutes.
After the 14 minutes done, wait till the pressure is released.
Decorate it with coriander. This is optional
Yummy delicious Mochai Masala/Field Beans Masala is ready . Serve with Hot Rice, rasam, pickle.
