Toasted Caprese Sandwich

 Today's Sandwich: Easy Caprese Delight – Kid's Favorite

Caprese, traditionally prepared with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil leaves, is a classic Italian combination. This sandwich is perfect for a quick, nutritious meal that kids will love.

Ingredients:

  • Bread – Sliced (2 slices for each sandwich)
  • Tomatoes – Sliced
  • Mozzarella Cheese – Sliced
  • Basil Leaves – Fresh
  • Red Pesto Sauce
  • Olive Oil – For toasting
  • Optional: A sprinkle of salt and pepper, balsamic glaze for extra flavor

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread: Take the slices of bread and spread a generous layer of Red Pesto Sauce on one side of each slice.

  2. Assemble the Sandwich:

    • On one slice, arrange the sliced tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.
    • Add the sliced mozzarella cheese on top. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper for added flavor.
    • Place the second slice of bread on top, sauce-side down, to close the sandwich.
  3. Toast the Sandwich:

    • Heat a tawa (griddle) over medium heat.
    • Drizzle a little olive oil either on the tawa or directly on the bread.
    • Place the sandwich on the tawa and toast it until golden brown on one side. Flip and toast the other side until golden and the cheese is melted.
