Easy Homemade Croutons
Crunchy, flavorful, and made with just a few pantry staples!
Making your own croutons is not only incredibly easy but also a smart way to save money—especially when you buy a loaf of bread on sale. Homemade croutons taste so much better than store-bought ones and you get to control the flavor and crunch. Whether you’re topping soups, salads, or just snacking straight from the tray, these croutons are sure to impress.
Ingredients:
-
1 loaf of Italian bread (preferably a day or two old)
-
Olive oil (enough to lightly coat the bread)
-
Salt (to taste)
-
Black pepper (to taste)
-
Garlic powder (optional but delicious)
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Dice the bread into small cubes, about ½ to 1 inch in size.
-
Toss the bread cubes in a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil. Add salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste. (Seasonings are flexible—adjust to your liking!)
-
Spread the cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet.
-
Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Give them a quick toss halfway through for even browning.
-
Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Tip: Use these on Caesar salads, creamy soups, or even grind a few into breadcrumbs!
