Easy Homemade Croutons

Easy Homemade Croutons

Crunchy, flavorful, and made with just a few pantry staples!

Making your own croutons is not only incredibly easy but also a smart way to save money—especially when you buy a loaf of bread on sale. Homemade croutons taste so much better than store-bought ones and you get to control the flavor and crunch. Whether you’re topping soups, salads, or just snacking straight from the tray, these croutons are sure to impress.

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of Italian bread (preferably a day or two old)

  • Olive oil (enough to lightly coat the bread)

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Black pepper (to taste)

  • Garlic powder (optional but delicious)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Dice the bread into small cubes, about ½ to 1 inch in size.

  3. Toss the bread cubes in a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil. Add salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste. (Seasonings are flexible—adjust to your liking!)

  4. Spread the cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet.

  5. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Give them a quick toss halfway through for even browning.

  6. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

  7. Tip: Use these on Caesar salads, creamy soups, or even grind a few into breadcrumbs!
