This Pineapple Halwa is a delightful fusion of tropical fruit and traditional Indian flavors. With its golden hue, melt-in-the-mouth texture, and subtle notes of cardamom and saffron, this dessert is perfect for special occasions or a sweet surprise after a meal. The best part? It's easy to prepare and made with simple ingredients you probably already have at home. Let’s get started!
✨ Ingredients:
-
Pineapple (chopped) – 1¼ cups
-
Corn flour – ½ cup
-
Sugar – 1 cup
-
Cardamom powder – 2 pinches
-
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
-
Saffron (Zafran/Kumkuma poo) – ¼ tsp
-
Cashews – 1 tbsp
-
Ghee (clarified butter) – 3 tbsp
👩🍳 Method:
Step 1: Prepare the Pineapple Mix
-
Grind the chopped pineapple to a smooth purée.
-
Add corn flour to the pineapple and grind again briefly to mix well without lumps.
Step 2: Roast the Cashews
-
Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan over medium flame.
-
Add the cashews and sauté until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Halwa Base
-
In the same pan, pour in the pineapple-corn flour mixture.
-
Stir continuously for a minute.
-
Add sugar and mix well.
Step 4: Add Flavors
-
Now add the saffron, cardamom powder, and turmeric.
-
Keep stirring as the mixture thickens.
Step 5: Add Ghee and Cook Until Done
-
Gradually add the remaining 2 tablespoons of ghee.
-
Continue stirring for 3–4 minutes until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan and holds its shape.
-
To test, touch the mixture with a wet spoon or finger – it should not stick.
Step 6: Set and Serve
-
Remove from heat. You can serve it as is, or if you'd like to cut it into squares, pour the halwa into a greased tray or container and level the surface.
-
Let it rest for 15–30 minutes to set.
🍽️ Enjoy!
Your Pineapple Halwa is now ready to enjoy! Fruity, fragrant, and festive—this golden treat will surely win hearts at your next gathering.
