Boiled peanuts are a classic street-style snack loved for their warm, comforting taste and simple preparation. This recipe keeps peanuts as the star ingredient, while allowing you to add fresh toppings based on your taste. It is tangy, slightly spicy, and refreshing—perfect as an evening snack or quick appetizer.

🥜 Ingredients

  • Raw peanuts – 2 cups

  • Salt – to taste

  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

  • Curry powder (optional) – 1/4 tsp

For Mixing (Adjust to Taste):

  • Onion – finely chopped

  • Tomato – finely chopped

  • Raw mango – finely chopped

  • Shredded coconut – 2–3 tbsp

  • Chaat masala – to taste

  • Lemon juice – to taste


🍳 Method

Step 1: Soak and Cook Peanuts

  1. Wash and soak peanuts for 1–3 hours (optional but helps cook faster).
    If you skip soaking, you can still cook raw peanuts directly.

  2. Add peanuts to an Instant Pot or pressure cooker.

  3. Add salt, turmeric, optional curry powder, and enough water to cover peanuts.

  4. Cook for 20–30 minutes until peanuts are soft but not mushy.

  5. Drain excess water and keep peanuts aside.

Step 2: Warm the Peanuts

  1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.

  2. Add boiled peanuts and stir for about 1 minute just to keep them warm.

  3. Switch off the heat.

Step 3: Make Street-Style Peanut Chaat

  1. In a mixing bowl, add warm peanuts.

  2. Add chopped onion, tomato, mango, shredded coconut, and chaat masala.

  3. Squeeze fresh lemon juice.

  4. Mix gently and serve immediately.
